Hey,

I just got a new Sony VAIO desktop computer and loaded Windows 7 RC 7100 x64 on it. It has an Intel G45 (?) HD integrated graphics chip. When I go to install and play casual games, like from PopCap (Bejeweled, Bookworm, etc.), the game will not stretch to fill the 1920x1200 screen. The game stays at about either 640x480 or 800x600 in the center of a black screen, which on this screen means the games are really really small. The last computer I played these games on was like 1280x800 resolution, and the games stretched to fill the entire screen.

One of the main reasons I got this computer was to play these games really big on the 24" display, even if the graphics get blurry from stretching so big. Is there any way I can force the Intel chip to scale these games to fit the screen, rather than it trying to preserve the original resolution of the game?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

- Phil

I've seen this in some of the battlefield games where I have to add the -widescreen to the games run command.
You might want to try google "widescreen support for casual games" and see if there is something there.

I have done several web searches, and I found several discussions on this topic (most of them from back when people thought 800x600 was too high for any practical use). What I didn't find was any actual solutions?

Are there any global Windows command line arguments that I can use to force programs to run in a screen resolution of my choice? I tried using the "640x480" compatibility mode option, but it doesn't seem to work. I would just lower the screen resolution permanently, but I watch Blu-ray movies on here, and I'm not about to manually change the screen resolution every time I play a game.
