Hello!

I use my computer as a sometime HTPC. I have display 1 as my monitor in the computer room and I have display 2 as my 42" LCD in the other room. I ran a 30 ft hdmi cable in there, as well as a connection to the spdif.

Now, to switch from monitor to tv I have to:

Click on the speaker icon.
Select spdif
Select 'set as default.
Right click on the desktop
Resolution (or display settings or whatever)
select display 2
click OK
Run into the next room and click OK in 15 seconds or however long it gives me.

I was wondering, outside of using Ultramon, is there any quicker way to do the above. A shortcut or the possibility of building a macro or something?

Thanks!

Duplicate, not extend!

I have basically the same system, only difference being I have two displays in my study and third, a big screen TV in the bedroom upstairs. To avoid this 15 second sprint you mentioned, I'll duplicate the desktop on one of the displays in my study and the TV in the bedroom. This allows me to sit tight in the study to tell the computer I accept the change of display. Later I can disconnect the duplicated display in the study from the bedroom.

For the sound, I need to do nothing. HDMI Out from computer also carries the audio signal, which is then transferred from TV audio out to an AV receiver in the bedroom. When I connect the TV using Screen Resolution tool, it automatically changes the default audio output device to HDMI out as soon as the PC-HDMI is selected as the video source in the TV.

Other than that, I have no solution to offer. I've been searching the way to automatize this procedure as posted here. Found nothing.
