What does it do when you try? As in, how far does it get?

I am assuming you are just clicking Start>>Shut Down. Is that right?

No that area works fine, I should of went into more details, what I meant was, i set my power options for my display and tower to sleep and for some reason it won't sleep anymore no matter what settings I set.

That is often caused by a USB device wanting to keep the computer awake. As an experiment you might try setting Sleep to something like two minutes so you don't have to wait all day for it to try, then unplug all your USB devices except mouse and keyboard. If Sleep then works, try it again with just one of your extra USB devices plugged in. When you get to the point where it doesn't Sleep anymore you'll know the last one you plugged in is the culprit.

You might also want to check in your BIOS and also in Device Manager under Network Adapters and see if Wake On LAN is enabled. If it is, turn it off. Something as simple as a Ping from another machine could be keeping it awake. :)

The culprit was my usb hub that I don't really need, I had my
magic jack plugged into it, I suppose I could plug it in elswhere.

Thanks alot for your help, you guys rock in here:D
