Ditch a lemon?

Hi everyone,

So I'm currently the owner of a VPCF115FM, also known as a piece of crap. Aside from the fact I just sent it in for the second round of repairs, the screen sucks, the battery sucks, and the processor sucks big time on battery. I paid $1249 for it, and I'm thinking of pawning it off for $1100 on CL, and getting this for $939:

Dell studio 15
Core i5-430
4GB
500GB 7200RPM
ATI 4570
1080p
9-cell battery

$939.

Any input would be greatly appriciated. I realize it is a downgrade in peak performance, but I think it is an all around better fit, especially since the Sony is also made like crap case wise.

I think thats a good idea, if you have too many problems with the other.

What are you gonna use the computer for? We kinda need to know that before we can tell you if it's well worth the money for your use

The Sony has just been problem after problem, and between the disappointing screen and power on battery, I think this is the right move.

I'm going to use it for college, as a CS major. Mostly paper-writing, internet browsing, some media playback, and compiling (but nothing too intensive).

Another question is, what exactly is the difference between the i3 and i5? The only difference I see is that the i5 has that turbo boost. I could probably chip off $65 if that's the case, as the i3 at the same clock is 65 cheaper.

I believe the i3 is only Dual core, where the i5 is quad core.
Anyway, those specs you listed, should do the job for what your gonna use your pc for

I'm glad to know that. And hopefully now, too, I can get more than 1:15 battery life.
