When I ran DM Log Collector v1.2, it created the archive, but when it tried to copy the mini dump files from C:\Windows\minidump\*.dmp, the following message was output:

"The system cannot find the file specified. 0 file(s) copied.

Is this a problem?

Hi gfr92y,

Aside from the empty zip, it is a problem yes. Dump (.dmp) files are one of the most crucial elements in BSOD troubleshooting.
Though a lack of dump files can sometimes be explained, we'll need the files created by the DM Log Collector to see if any reason for the lack is provided (which is where the empty zip file issue comes in).

Please run the DM Log Collector again and upload a new zip, before uploading verify the zip isn't empty.

Still no *.dmp files.

Sorry for the empty zip file???

Please run the DM Log Collector again and upload a new zip, before uploading verify the zip isn't empty.
Done and attached.

Thanks for all your help!

No worries about the empty zip file, that issue has been going on for some time now.

Please free some space on your C:\ partition. Although the C:\ partition isn't big, Windows needs it to have at least 25GB of free space for BSOD crashes to be able to save memory dumps.

Also, in case you use it, I would like to ask you to temporarily not use any tools that could free up space on your drive as these tools remove data that is important for troubleshooting.

This may be OT, but it prevents me from implementing your recommendation (and potentially limits my ability to install additional software on my computer).

At my son's encouragement, when I reinstalled my operating system I installed the operating system on a 250 GB SSD (c:\) and attempted to install all of the software on a 1 TB hard drive (p:\). Installing software on a drive uniquely different from the operating system proved to be problematic and so I began installing software on the SSD. Now you see my dilemma. I only have 11 GB on the drive contains my operating system but do not have any discretionary space to free up.

My question is, can I migrate the operating and software from the SSD to the 1 TB hard drive without reinstalling the operating system and software, again?

I should probably ask this question in a different thread in a different sub forum.

Have you ever cleaned up temporary files on the OS partition? If not, that may gain a lot.

Temp files directories, in the run prompt (windows key + r) type 'temp' or '%tempt%' (without quotes), either of them will bring you to either of the following directories.
- C:\Windows\Temp (temp)
- C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp (%temp%)

Have you ever ...

[SNIP]

I had to travel out-of-state to care for a hospitalized child.

I should be able to reengage myself in this problem Sunday or Monday.

No, but I was able to migrate the OS from the 120GB SSD to the 1TB HD.

PS... After moving WIN 7 to the HD, I upgraded to WIN 10, then did a clean install of WIN 10 and am almost finished reinstalling all of my software. (The only lingering issue is making my "new" WIN 10 PRO desktop accessible from my WIN 10 HOME and WIN 7 PRO laptops.

Thank you for trying to help with my BSOD problem.

Sometimes somethings require a "Rumsfeld Solution".

A "Rumsfeld Solution" is when you solve a small, but challenging problem by turning it into an extremely large problem that can be easily solved with a scorched earth approach.

SSD, look at you now, you stupid f@$#%!
