DMZ Host

Anyone familiar with DMZ Host or anything familiar ? As I'm looking for a secure and reliable way to access ones NAS anywhere, anyplace regardless if it's a desktop or mobile ?

DMZ is implemented in a variety of ways. Some networking equipment does DMZ well; others, not so well. Putting any device in the DMZ just removes layers of protection. I do not know of a secure/reliable way to have a NAS available from anywhere/anyplace on the Internet. Maybe other forum members will chime in.

DMZ (De-Militarized Zone) is not a secure zone, it is to make the LAN secure by moving otherwise outside exposed services to outside of Intranet. See How to Remotely connect to your NAS device

In my router: "This page allows configuration of a specific network device to be exposed or visible directly to the WAN (public internet). ); This may be used when problem applications do not work with port triggers. Entering a "0" means there are no exposed hosts."

Could you for example withWebDAV hook it up to a cloud based service so you could view your data on the cloud when it's actually though your NAS or something similar so you have a GUI ?

You should be able to access your NAS with WebDAV (if it supports). The link I gave earlier show you how to (step 2 and onward). I believe the portion about DynDNS is outdated though, as I can't find any free service.

There is no way to interconnect a NAS to any cloud based service to have a web based GUI or are there any web based FTP client that can do an equal Job ?

Why not just configure your NAS to accept what protocols you want and open ports on your router (port forwarding)?

To verify, an external IP is similar, if not, a Dynamic IP, correct ?

External IP (or Public IP) is either dynamic or static. It is how your ISP assign it to you determines which one.

If you can afford to have a PC on all the time, you can check out DuckDNS. It is free and works alright. There are a few methods you can use that they provide and support. DynDNS is one of them and perhaps your router/NAS can work with that instead of a PC doing it?

Was talking about DuckDNS, nevermind. No-IP is inaccessible where I live, not sure if it is tied to last year's seize of No-IP domains by MS.
