Did you go to the adapter and check the configuration to make sure it wasn't static.
Try going to the command interface and type ipconfig /flushdns

Sometimes when upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 winsock needs to be reset in order to get your browser back online again. Try using the following commands to fix the problem.

1. Click start, type cmd in the Start Search box, right-click cmd.exe, click Run as administrator, and then press Continue.

2. Type netsh winsock reset at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.

Note If the command is typed incorrectly, you will receive an error message. Type the command again. When the command is completed successfully, a confirmation appears, followed by a new command prompt. Then, go to step 3.

3. Type exit, and then press ENTER. You should be prompted to reboot, if not you should reboot and test.

Have you tried running the command sfc /scanow ?

Windows 7 has zero problems with DHCP or DNS server so the problem is coming from somewhere else.

If that doesn't work I would go with a clean install of Windows 7 because upgrades can be very problematic.
