dns server error

Hey guys, can't connect to internet. After troubleshooting I am told windows can not communicate w/primary dns server. I tried to update drivers but I am told they are up to date. Also dhcp is enabled. I am using a wireless connection. Any ideas? I'm not very computer savvy. I used to rely on my bf to fix this stuff but we aren't together anymore. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Are you able to ping 8.8.8.8?

Are you able to ping your default gateway?

Aaaaaand it fixed itself after I unplugged the router and modem and restarted the computer. So frustrating. This seems to happen at least once a day for the past few weeks. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to come back and other times like today it takes over an hour. What could be causing this?
