For some reason I cannot make the DNS Server address remain when I do a restart. I can easily change it to one that works but every time I restart the computer, it reverts to the old address: 198.101.13.115 Any ideas why? I ran virus scans and spyware scans but nothing seems to help. Its been like this for 4 days now so I doubt its a server problem.

Any security software that would be protecting the settings?

Are you part of a domain? That's some odd DNS address.

No security that I'm aware of but I will check and I'm assuming it's the ISP's server address as the computer is connected directly to the modem via Ethernet cable but it's my sons computer and god only knows what he might have downloaded that may be causing this.

Nope, I shut down the firewall and did a soft boot and it seemed to be okay but then I did a hard boot and it still has the same connection issues.

Oh my bad, I saw that DNS address as private. :o

Norton would be the suspect here more than a firewall.
Did you scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free? Please do so if not.
Also scan with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Download, disable Norton if it gives a warning.

Install CCleaner -go into Tools - Startup (check advanced mode from right side) take a screenshot of each tab (or save to text file and attach), make sure text is not cut. Post here http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9733-screenshots-files-upload-post-seven-forums.html

Then perform a clean startup http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ation-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html, see if problem persists

Malware is the issue

Well, our sons must be going to the same sites. Everytime I reset the DNS then restarted I too got no internet and the DSN was reset to 198.108.13.115 and 95.211.37.200. I ran spybot S&D and it found several items then I downloaded Norton and it found more things. Still did not fix the DNS issue but did clear up all kind of popups on the computer. Finally,I ran a free software AdwCleaner did a restart and my DNS was clean. AdwCleaner Download I know this is several weeks after your problem, but thought that somebody else may find this problem like I did here and get it resolved.
