DNS?

Currently, when I go into my IPv4 settings, its set-up like this.

However, when I set the DNS to obtain automatically, I can't connect to anything anymore.

There are 2 PC's here, one is mine, and they are connected to the same modem through a router.

Are you using the Window Classic UI?

Asking because that looks like an XP window, not a Windows 7 window.

Open a command prompt, type ipconfig -all and post a screen shot of the full list

and what does it look like if you have it automatically obtain dns via DHCP

Try to run ipconfig -flushdns

The 2nd show shows your DNS server has a IPV6 address. No idea why though but that is why it doesn;t work.

Would still like to see all the output from ipconfig /all. Try this:

Click on Start then Run and paste the following into the Run box, exactly as show, including double quotes:

cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"

and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close.

Nothing useful (or different there), rats.

Try disabling IPV6, see if that gives you a normal IPV4 DNS address of 192.168.2.1. See here How to disable certain Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) components in Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008

Does it still show the IPv6 DNS address?

Can you change your DNS Server Settings Manually?
See if you can change them to OpenDNS's servers
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Now try to ping Google or Yahoo.
