Do Any Windows 7 Rollups Enhance Performance, Add Features, Etc?

Hello Everyone,

I am having trouble finding out what specifically each Windows 7 Rollup (Update) provides.
As everyone knows, there are many of them

(I know it sounds foolish, but just for the sake of my question, completely ignoring any talk about security threat updates and also mentioning to download the "convenience rollup")

From the release of Service Pack 1 to now....

Does anyone know if there are any specific rollups that offer any enhancements for items such as OS performance, hardware performance, SSD performance, GUI changes, new features, etc.?

Or does anyone have a link to a nice, clear, simple to understand/read list of what each update offers?
(Every search I do just seems to talk about the "convenience rollup")

Windows 7 is now in extended support so only security updates will be provided. New features and performance updates are only likely to be found early in a products lifetime and Windows 7 is long past that. I doubt any such enhancements have been released since SP1. Currently only Windows 10 will receive such updates.

It's not foolish at all. About a year ago, Microsoft made this whole process very complicated. You have to have a PhD in Computer Engineering to keep up with it all, if you have the time to invest in it.

It is very rare to get a non-security update these days that you will actually need for Windows 7. Windows 7 has been around for a long time, and so basically there aren't any new enhancements or features being released for Windows 7, certainly none that you actually need.

There are lots of other products out there which offer the enhancements you have listed.

Myself, I have my Windows 7 machine on automatic updates - I gave up months ago with trying to keep up with installing only the security updates. If you are a home user, there is not much risk of your getting an update which will mess something up in Windows 7. But I do regular backups, so that if that ever happens, I can reverse the damage.

There comes a time in the development of any software product where there is a feature freeze. No new features, no performance optimizations, only bug fixes. All non trivial software has bugs. In the case of Windows 7 that happened years ago. For a major update such as a service pack there may be new features and performance updates but that is quite unusual. There may be a few new features added for the use of developers and minor performance enhancements (usually undocumented). For updates other than service packs that is very rare.

Adding new features that a user would notice is really very complicated. Writing the code is the easy part. Then there is the usability testing, needed modifications, and bug fixes. And the possibility of new security and compatibility issues. This all becomes very time consuming and expensive. For an OS in extended support and generating no revenue this becomes very difficult to justify. It almost never happens. The chances of new features and performance enhancements for Windows 8 is just about nil. Even less for Windows 7.

Windows 10 is following a different model and I will not comment on that.

I figured there wouldn't be any major updates containing the items I mentioned, but just wanted to make sure.
Sometimes when things get so complicated I think I am just doing something wrong, but it in a way is good to hear that I am not the only one
Thank you for also bringing back to my attention the age of Windows 7, I often forget sometimes that Windows 7 is getting older, which is strange because I am not.
