I am dual booting right now and Use McAfee 2009, which works very well with Vista.

Now when I use Windows 7, It asks for an anti virus programme, and when I tried to install, it gave me a message that "this programme has known compatibility issues" .. What do I do ? Please suggest.

McAfee has said that will update their antivirus program to work with Windows 7 once it is released. Windows 7 is being released next week, and since McAfee has had a while to check out Windows 7 and fix compatibility issues, hopefully it won't take them long to get the new version out.

I would suggest you just use Microsoft Security Essentials (http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspx) until McAfee gets their 7-compatible version out. :)

Thanks for the reply, but isn't using 2 separate AV's for a PC, pretty dangerous ? The last time I tried on XP, my Lappie crashed !

More info : I have Vista and Windows 7 on 2 separate partitions.

Well, I wouldn't advise that you use both AV's on the same OS at the same time! I was suggesting that you use MSE *until* the new McAfee comes out, at which point you could uninstall MSE and install McAfee *instead*, if you wanted to.

Each OS on a multi-boot system requires its own AV solution. Many people use the same AV (for example, I have Avast! on all of mine), although that is not strictly necessary. What you shouldn't do is have 2 or more AVs on a single OS as that can lead to trouble and conflict between the programs.

I have installed the Microsoft AV for now on Win 7 , seems to work fine, though I still use Vista as default OS.
