Hidely doodely. Did Google search for the above and got this site's sister site for Windows 8 concerning battery/power options - oh how those poor people do suffer. However, I'm missing that option from the menu that appears when I attach anything via USB - hard disk, USB stick, phone, iPhone under my Windows7 Operating System. It's not massively important, but the option WAS there at other times (95, 98, XP, I'm not sure (thank the lords, I missed Vista)), but is no longer. It was useful in that it stopped the system bothering me when I plugged something in, perhaps to only charge, and that's why I miss it - I don't like being bothered. If you know how to bring it back, and can be bothered to tell me how, I would be grateful.

Cheers Brink. Your mention of Autoplay caused me to make the connection - I only really linked Autoplay mentally with CD/DVD players, not USB devices. Then, with your jog, I found what I wanted in Control Panel/(All Control Panel Items)/Autoplay, and changed all except two to Take no action. Success.
That middle path in brackets because I've expanded my Control Panel fully - no categories view. And I only detailed what I did in case anyone else gets here looking for the same thing.
Cheers.

Great news. :)
