Do standard users need a password?

I'm the only person using my computer (usually). I have the secret Administrator account turned on and password protected. And my day-to-day account is a Standard account. Do I really need to password protect my standard account? What are the reasons to?

Thanks in advance.

In general, passwords are not required (accounts with blank passwords by default cannot be used to access the machine remotely). It is a good idea to set one if you can, simply for physical security's sake, but it's not *required* unless you have a specific reason to do so. It is sort of like having locks on your doors and not using them because you have a fenced yard - you're probably safe, but there's always the ability for someone else to do damage if they get into your yard.

Given that if the admin password is compromised or someone has physical access to the machine itself, password security is a moot point, but in general it's always recommended to be more secure rather than less. The choice, ultimately, is up to you though - it is your system.

Right-o! Thanks for the clarification. Sorry, I forgot to point out this computer is in my bedroom. Generally only myself or my family will *ever* have access to it. I really don't do any work that I need to secure or hide. So I just felt that having the admin password was enough for my situation. Thanks again!
