Hi gamers

not something I do but I REALLY have an issue the way this firm (Gartners) is taken as being a total 100% reliable forecaster in predictions.

Most of their stuff is only about 50% correct -- about the same as you'd get with random guessing so do you believe this :

...................According to market research firm Gartner, video game-related spending is expected to reach $112.0 billion by 2015, with 50.4% of spending on software ($56.5 billion). Over the next five years, the share of gaming hardware, as a percentage of total spending on gaming, will remain constant while spending on the fast-growing online gaming outpaces software spending.
Gartner estimates that consumer spending on global online gaming (subscriptions and micro transactions) will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 27% through 2015. Online gaming is expected to grow from 15.6% in 2010 to 25.2% by 2015, representing the highest growth among all other gaming platforms.............

Now Gaming is highly specialized -- you can't grow a Mature market at these levels.

So what do you think.

Cheers
jimbo

"Gartner"

...wat.

But seriously, no. They've been off base on plenty of other predictions too. As you say, 50% is too large of a margin of error to be taken seriously. Might as well ask a Magic 8 Ball.

that is just full of B/S! 'Gartner' are a bit too proud of their 'predictions' to say things like that.

In this and age where Afternoon Talk show hosts make millions of Dollars and have the biggest ratings and parents are more preoccupied on how much money they need to spend buying their kids love than educating them... I wouldn't be surprise if those guys are correct in their prediction.
