I reloaded my computer back to factory state and saved my document folder, now when I try to open the folder it does not allow me, is there a way of opening the folder I urgently need to get some essays out to print, I would be obliged to receive some help :(

Hi,

I'm not sure what the current issue with your new My Documents is, but.........

Do you have a Windows.old folder on your C:? Check inside there to see if there is a copy of the My Documents folder in there - your essays might still be in there to access.

Hi,

Have you tried right-clicking on that folder and changing the permissions? What about if you log in as administrator?

This is an old problem due to the persistence of NTFS permissions. once you take ownership you need to go to the permissions tab for the root folder of your documents and give your username full rights.

this will allow you to fully access the files without the need for elevation.
