Does a sticking HD mean its gonna Fail?

my HD has recently been doing this to me. And i wanna no if theres anything i can do to stop it?

I already checked for disk problems

Back up evrything on an External Hard drive. Does not sound good. You can go to the web site of the Mfg and test the HD. Most have such provisions.

Yes...it's failing.
It may last another 2 months and it may fail completely next time you boot...

How exactly did you check for disk problems ? ?

Hmm, I've never had a HD stick. I've had them click, and I've had them corrupt or just become undetectable, so I'm not sure what "stick" means. If it means what it sounds like, that the HD is binding somehow, I wouldn't give it much time at all.

EDIT: That check that you made only looks for bad clusters, and file system errors...that's not enough. Take the previous suggestions to get a harddrive diagnostic from the harddrive manufacturer and check it that way. You can also try using HD Tach or HD Tune.

i cant find a place to get the diognostic... its a sata HDD

160.0 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400.0 rpm

That diagnostic will work if he has Seagate drives, and possibly others, but I did have a Hitachi utility that refused to diagnose a Seagate drive, so it would be better if he gave the brand of the drive for a matching diagnostic...especially if the drive is in warranty, because they may require the error code given to honor the warranty.
