I am having regular issues with using the extended display function for multiple desktops /monitors.
I have a main desktop monitor and I have a projector plugged into a wireless usb adapter that is the extended display.
In the change displays setup box sometimes I see 2 possible monitors, sometimes I see 3 choices, but it's not consistent.
Sometimes the video extended to the projector is stable and sometimes it freezes and crashes requiring a reset.
I know this is a USB adapter / driver issue and not the projector per se as I can card wire the projector off the video card and it works fine and is stable.
Things I have done: reinstall drivers, turn off aero - well almost, if I select a windows "basic" theme the extended video doesn't work correctly.

Very frustrating.

Any ideas?

I'm a little confused as to how you can have a display connected to a (wireless) USB port, but...

If everything works fine when the projector is wired then the problem has to be with the wireless part. Your environment may just not be able to handle it (Too much other WiFi or other interference, distance., walls etc for the wireless adapter to work right).

Windows dynamically changes the monitor layout when it detects monitors coming and going. So if the projector is randomly there or not, again it's due to the poor wireless communication between the projector and the PC (Or possibly the drivers for the device are just junk)

I would try looking for help on the net based on the actual product name and see what luck (good or bad) that other people are having with that device. If the device and the wireless link were stable, Windows would probably act exactly the same as if it was wired.

Only ways i knew it could happen was through HDMI or DVI extended displays are just that extended on to another monitor from the main

If you attempting to focus on just one monitor then you need to use the resolution changes and select the projector

Given the resolutions are not the same and the projector could be named as another device CRT who knows

you can always play with the display by right clicking on the desktop and resolution it will allow you to switch betwen both

If there was a way to snip a shot of what you are seeing it would be much easier on us
