Does anyone else hate .daa files?

I don't get the point in them.
I downloaded something recently I was wondering why someone would make it in a file type which you need certain software to use - not to mention that the software you need to pay for.
So once I downloaded it I had to convert it to iso then use it.
I just get annoyed and I don't see why people can't use the universal .iso.

Exactly. You have to pay to use a .daa without converting it.
Unless; does anyone know of any free application which can use .daa without having to convert it and fiddle around.

Poweriso even though you have to pay but if you don't it gets the job done no matter what.

here is an open source solution you can try:

Luigi Auriemma

First one on the page is DAA2ISO / GBI2ISO 0.1.7c about as good as I could find

mm. What I would really like is an image burner which can burn .daa, but I don't want software which I have to pay for.
I don't see why people make it in .iso instead; it's like they are trying to force you into spending money.

.daa is kept pretty locked down by Poweriso, in effect yes, making you have to buy it. Why people create files in propriatary software is beyond me other than that is what they had. After some more searching it looks like you'll have to convert it to ISO using either the program I linked to or another similar way (there are ways to upack and repack it to iso for free as well) the only other option you have is to buy Poweriso. It really sucks for sure though, I had a similar experiance before and I pretty ticked off about it.
