Does Bitdefender 2016 change any win setting on installation?

hi there, is anyone using bitdefender 2016 total security pack on win7?

upon initial installation of the package, have you noticed if it made any change to either a default windows setting or a user defined setting? ok apart from firewall. if you did could you elaborate please

man but it installs with autopilot on by default. it's too late. already changes made, and i have to go over each setting again. and who knows which other area.

Hi Magna,
In my humble opinion, i'd never pay for an AV.
Use the free version they supply and the built in windows firewall,
common sense provides the rest of the support you pay for.

While on Autopilot, Bitdefender applies an optimal security configuration
and takes all security-related decisions for you. This means you will see no
pop-ups, no alerts and you will not have to configure any settings whatsoever.
In Autopilot mode, Bitdefender automatically fixes critical issues, enables

● Antivirus protection, provided by on-access scanning and continuous scanning.
● Firewall protection.
● Web Protection.
● Automatic updates.

To turn the Autopilot on or off click the Autopilot switch on the upper toolbar of the Bitdefender interface.
As long as the Autopilot is on, the Bitdefender icon in the system tray changes.
While the Autopilot is on, modifying any of the settings it manages will result in it being turned off.
To see a history of actions performed by Bitdefender while Autopilot was engaged, open the Events window.

So I reckon:

● Antivirus protection, provided by on-access scanning and continuous scanning.
Means full auto mode with no custom exclusions or file extenstions.
● Firewall protection.
Full auto mode with no user prompts if anything needs attention.
● Web Protection.
Means web browser plugin/ URL scanning?
● Automatic updates.
Means updates are automatically managed for the Bitdefender software so no manual update is needed.

It doesn't look like it changes any windows settings.

I have autopilot mode in another program. Basically it means "Set and forget" for users who don't want to be bothered by prompts or don't want to configure custom settings.

Personally I like prompts!

hey yo giving bitchdefender a try for a couple of months. under normal circumstances i would agree with u torchwood. so far, it's ok.

a note for anyone installing Total Security for the first time; more so than other AV i noticed, this one really loves to sniff out keygen lol. so if there are tested ones on ur pc u wish to retain, u should make a copy and keep it outside ur current system, or remember to restore it from the events panel cos u won't be fast enough to exclude it- upon completion of initial installation, it auto runs a scan. but u can cancel the scan of course. some keygen, it will delete on the spot without waiting for ur decision on action.

if you must know, this comprised files i had transferred from my IBM Compatible XT/AT days. i believe they were used to overcome copy protection (during play) for mid 1980s dos-based games like SSI's 'Pool of Radiance' or 'Sword of Aragorn', when i was still a boy. Using the keygen on edited versions of the games, you didn't have to lug around the stupid manual to search for random passwords. Now these games have long since become Abandonware, i think for 15-20 years maybe longer. the keygen did not exist till mid 90s (i think). These games hardly needed to be 'pirated' anymore. You can find out more about them from sites like Home of the Underdogs etc.

or if u prefer, replace 'keygen' in my last 2 posts with 'executables identified as false-positives', since the significance of its mention in this discussion mainly concerned its status as false-positives. Another file would be 'WirelessKeyView.exe' from NirCMD's x64 tools zip. now this file was also removed from my system as a security threat. You can read more about its function at their official site. it does not concern piracy.

last but not least, i merely mentioned 'keygen' i made no personal correlation of its use to any action involving piracy. if you still think keygen necessarily = piracy, i suggest you ease up; it's ... not too late to broaden ur scope on this subject.

No problem. Thanks for the explanation. I also happen to use many Nirsoft products and many of them have to be added to AV or other security software exclusion lists.
