Have an external USB hard drive caddy with a naked Raptor drive sitting in it which has one partition that is the entire capacity of the Raptor drive...this is an 'active' volume.
1. Can someone tell me if I delete the volume under Computer Management>Disk Management>Delete Volume will this return it to being an 'inactive' volume?
2. Also can you tell me after deletion will I need to initialise the drive in the usual way like when one installs a new drive in a PC?
3. Upon reboot will Windows just offer to initialise it within Disk Management?
I want it to just be a simple, basic, single partition drive just for data backup. In past it was my OS drive which is when it was made an active volume. Using W7/64bit professional.
Thanks...Gary
