Basically, my sound meter keep showing sound but I have none. Is my system simply making sound I can't detect?

I don't think that it is sound as such, rather noise which is caused by the input being left floating. What happens if you turn the MIC volume down when you unplug it (or simply mute the control)?

Is that with the MIC plugged in or not? In addition, you should consider turning down (or muting) any unconnected audio channels, particularly those which are configured as inputs.

The level fall to zero when I mute the mic with it plugged in and not plugged in.

Where can I find the unconnected audio channels/inputs?

edit: just realized you clicked properties. I did that just now and it's the same anyway.

So basically It seems like it's the Mic-in jack. Does it matter that I get the noise from that jack, as far as it hurting my system or whatever?

It was a little hard to see in that video, but was still readable. One thing you haven't done is to install the drivers for your sound card. That is why it is showing as "High definition audio device" instead of showing the name of the sound card. It is also why there is only one item showing when you get to the Levels tab.

If onboard from the motherboard manufacturer. If a sound card from the card manufacturer.

This would help as well,

If unsure what your specs are grab this,

Speccy - System Information - Free Download

and it should show it.

FYI, i own a Sager NP2096 which shipped with drivers for Vista. I installed Windows seven and Sager told me to get drivers from Compal. Now I see three drivers, one from 2008 which I assume is for Vista. And two others, one for Nvidia VGA Sku and one for Intel VGA Sku. what do you think?
