Hiyya Netadict No mate Readyboost doesn't actually work like RAM does it is only a form of caching that relieves the RAM and system a bit to put it in a nutshell.

ReadyBoost - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mind you your RAM does seem rather crowded what are you loading at boot and in use? .

If you want a bit more performance and don't mind losing a bit of the bling mate try this
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11728-optimize-windows-7-a.html?filter[2]=Performance Maintenance plus you might just make sure all of the drivers are up to date but this tutorial is good.

If nothing else it will cut down what you are cluttering the system with. Your machine too can only use 32bit OS or else I would say put some more RAM in but....

Software wise, currently I only have my security software loading at startup and yes I have disabled all unnecessary startup programs ( i use autoruns to track those), have no desktop gadgets, and have disabled any services I don't need.

Hardware wise, I wish I can add more ram and go 64 bit but my system only supports 4gigs max! D you think that the specs say 4gig maximum because the PC came with a 32 bit OS, but might be able to handle more ram with a 64 bit OS?

Yes mate sorry late reply am on nights at the moment so bear with me. The chipset on the board can only handle 32bit whereas the processor cam take 64bit see these ARK | Intel® Pentium® D Processor 945 (4M Cache, 3.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB) & HP Compaq dc7600 Small Form Factor PC specifications - HP Small & Medium Business Products plus my pics.
So I guess we are left with Readyboost to take up a bit of the slack but in my experience I have never seen it make it fly. The problem is something is taking up a lot of the RAM when booted up.
So go to Start type in task manager > click on "View running processes with Task Manager" and you will get a window like in my pics they will show what is loaded up what is running and not I found for instance Windef is running when I have stopped it already so have a careful look and let us know what is there - screen shots would be good but just have a look first to see if there is a lot or not.

But please do not alter ANYTHING in processes or Services until we see what is in them!
John

Hum you don't have that much running do you I think maybe the DDR2 RAM is the slowcoach.
So what is the boot time that is from power on to the login screen?

@netadict
In Task Manager you need to check the "Show processes from all users" checkbox to see all the running processes.

I don't see anything there that looks like a problem.
99% CPU System Idle Process and 36 Processes is about as good as it gets!

As the thread is about improving Windows Experience Index, can you post a screen print of your Windows Experience Index?

In your specs it shows a CPU Pentium D 3.4 GHz.
That may be bringing down your index score.

The Windows Experience Index numbers are really not that important...
The important thing is, are you satisfied with how your system performs for your normal everyday use?

DavidW7ncus, you are totally right, it doesn't matter what the scales say, what matters is if you are happy with your current weight.

My system is performing OK I guess. Im trying to squeeze all the performance I can get out of it.

Yes ICit2lol, Ive read the Optimize Windows 7 and discovered that I have done 90% of what's in it through searching the net. Dispit this, I have kept some visual features for fun
