I am trying to sysprep a test machine since we will have to be switching to windows 7. I have done a clean install of windows 7 and the only thing I am putting into the WAIK answer file is copy profile=true in specialize pass. However I cannot get it to work at all. I get an error about not being able to parse the xml file then pc says computer restarted unexpectedly click OK to restart computer and install windows. This of course causes a boot loop.

I have followed Microsoft's instructions and basically every tutorial on the net. I have had to reformat and install Windows 7 no joke 8 times.

Does this actually work or should I just forget it.

i've managed to solve the problem. For some reasen my development computer was not in audit mode anymore. Luckily I had a snapshot in my virtual pc so I could go easily back. I sysprepped the machine and the error was gone!

I can confirm the copyprofile parameter works like a charm!

Thanx.

Apologies for bump

I had a similar issue to this, in that sysprep couldn't parse my answerfile.

FIX:

Save unattend.xml in notepad (type the full name and extension), select filetype *.* All Files and change the encoding to UTF-8.
