does the router assign a fixed ip to devices on connection

Hi,
The laptop is having an id which is shown when connected with a local ip address starting with 192.x.x.2 etc.
But when i checked , when the laptop is not connected, the connected dhcp clients show the device name with the local allotted ip as, mentioned above.
my query is, will not the router forget the ip, when it is not connected.
Will it assign the same ip, in connected and not connected status.
How, it is shown as connected device, when it is not actually connected in the router dhcpclients connection tab.

The dhcp lease is for a set time and at the end of that time it will be forgotten and a new lease will be needed this happens if its conenect or not. Unless you have set the router to assign a specific ip to the pc it will be random so you may not get the same ip and it may have been assigned to another device

Hi, Samuria, sorry for the late reply.
Would it not forget, once the device is shutdown automatically on the day of lease. I mean if i switch off the laptop, would it not forget the temporary i.p
yes , you are correct, that I get a different temp ip on the next day, when I browse to the clients pages connected

Most routers dont close the ip as long as the lease still current but it can be specific to a router or setting
