does windows 7 support wia drivers?

I am trying to scan from Photoshop Elements 9 but it will not recognise the default printer. apparently WIA support is recommended. Help please

I'm guessing you're referring to Windows Image Acquisition. All versions of Windows (starting with ME) should support WIA. Does your current default printer have the necessary Windows 7 driver(s) installed? If yes, this Windows Development Center article may provide additional information.
