I've been waiting for a long time for a good 3TB drive at a decent price, and I Finally found one (I got the last refurbished one, which was $120).

Problem is, I forgot to get a SATA cable  Amazon says it would take two weeks to ship the cable by itself, and I have no intention of driving down to the boarder to pay $5 for holding and $20 for gas to pick up a $1 cable. Local stores all have the exact same cable listed at $16 or more  I finally found one at monoprice which will be shipped straight to my house for a total of $4. It may show up at the same time as my new drive, or it may take another week. That's OK, as I can just disconnect my optical drive in the time being.

Sounds like all's well that ends well!

You assume you have stuff like that laying around don't you. Well I do, I needed one a few weeks back, I searched for around an hour everywhere, all my drawers, boxes, cupboards, garage and I finally found one in a bag stashed away. I connected it up and sat back down infront of the monitor, I glanced just below the screen and dam it I saw another one just sat there on the shelf behind the monitor lol. So I now have another one spare.

Back when I fixed computers under my own umbrella, I kept extra cables on the shelf which I ordered from the most economical sources to keep that kind of thing from happening. Sometimes I'd have to scrape together an order of various cables, various expansion cards, etc. to make it worthwhile, but it always saved me, and my customers, money and time.

I'll definitely consider doing that. Right now I'm not at a high enough rate of upgrading to make it worthwhile though.

I'm just mad because all of the custom computer shops charge $16 or more, and that's stupid. They could simply get a whack of these for $.90 each, And I'd be perfectly happy paying $5 for a cable.

It seems to be fine, but I had to manually assign a drive letter.

I'm still waiting for the SATA cables to come in, so I have my bluray drive unplugged.

The inside of my case is now a real mess of cables though.
