I have always let windows automatically do the updates. Then came W10 and the automatic feature no longer works (downloads are there, I click install, and it reverts to show the downloads). Now I am attempting to manually install.

Dumb question, is there a direct link to the KB's without me searching Google and following the link to them on microsoft com./xxx ?

What is showing up on windows update are all 32bit type updates, yet when I search for that KB, it is often 64bit. What will happen if attempted 64 bit install, just fail??

Tx

Mi meebers & welcome to sevenforums.

There are no dumb questions, only dumb individuals who don't ask.

Yes, there is, Microsoft Update Catalog.

You'll have to use Internet Explorer to install it.

x32 updates won't install on x64 system.

x64 updates should install, if they don't you should get error code.

Post your windowsupdate.log located at: C:\Windows

I'll take a look and see what I can find.

Might have to reset windows update.

I'm learning on this issue, however, here's the relevant part of the log:

FATAL: Unable to connect to the service (hr=80004002)
FATAL: Unable to initiate asynchronous search, hr=80004002
WARNING: Attempted to add URL http://download.windowsupdate.com/d..._901b9b42734eeaaea0b65a7c6b4e04a2a8cbe0d6.cab for file kBubQnNO6q6gtlp8a04EoqjL4NY= when file has not been previously added to the datastore
WARNING: Exit code = 0x80004002
WARNING: Unable to establish connection to the service. (hr=80004002)

I'll do a little research on the Fatal errors.

Don't worry about losing any of your installed programs or files, there's a remedy.
