At office I am a domain admin (let's say MyDomain\MyUser) and I use this user to log in to my machine
I have added MyDomain\MyUser as a local admin of my machine
At hime, I'm not connected to "MyDomain" but I still log in using the account MyDomain\MyUser. It's ok I can connect
But anyway, when I'm at home there are some things I cannot do like :
doing "cmd iisreset" --> must be admin
launching a "visual studio" solution whena project is registered to IIS --> must be admin
In SQL Server, I cannot do some modification (when I log as windows authentication, and even if this user is dbowner)
As I understand, when I'm disconnected of the domain, it does not "really" recognize me as being an admin any more, until he "can be sure" it's me by checking in the domain.
There are some scenario where this is very blocking for me.
Can I solve that ? And how ?
Do a search for keyword "Domain" (Domain not available) in the "Advanced Search" Tab.
This will display around 1000 results. Readed some and you might find what you're looking for.

Most likely you need a VPN account, so you can connect to your company's trusted network when at home. Ask your IT dept for a VPN account so you can work at home and get your work done off the trusted LAN.
Adding your domain account as a local admin likely will do nothing to resolve your problem. Certain commands are very likely programmed to check your authentication against the Domain Controller (Authenticating Computer) before executing.
I agree, a VPN connection would most likely resolve this issue. Either that or if you can remote into a PC at your work and work via RDP (though this isn't nearly as efficient).
