Domain User Doesn't Save Locally

Hey guys,

I'm in the midst of implementing Win7 Professional in a high school. Currently I'm running a Win2k3 R2 active directory where each machine has its own login. I created my cloned image and replicated it to several student computers to test. For some reason on only 1 of the machines it won't save any domain user's profile information to the hard drive in the user folder. Anybody have any idea why this is? Thanks.

try first deleteing the machine account and deleteing all local copies of profiles. Them re-join the domain. Are these roaming profiles?

I created just generic profiles, I didn't enable them to be roaming, unless that option was switched on somewhere.

I'll try re-joining the domain and see what happens.

So I've determined what it is I'm doing thats causing it to not save profiles locally. If I login to the machine as a local admin and delete the other users profile, it won't ever save the profile information again locally. It creates I believe just temp files somewhere on the hard drive, and then clears them off everytime that user logs off.

NETplwiz doesn't list the profiles in there because they're just domain logins that aren't tied to the machines. Even when I go to the Advanced Config area in My Computer and the profile won't show up there either. I do get a couple "Account Unknown" profiles though.

To try to force the computer to re-create the local folder, I tried removing domain/rejoining. That didn't help.

I've tried running sysprep and let it re-detect everything but that didn't help either.

So far the only solution is to re-apply my cloned WIM file, but that's not much of a solution. After doing some initial searches on google I found information about registry keys being stored under CURRENT_USER, and thought perhaps if I tried to delete the SID's corresponding to the account that I could anything corresponding to that profile. So I tried that but it would give me an error refusing to delete them.

Anybody have this issue?

Hi I am also having the same problem.
I have windows server 2008 with Active Directory. When i copy Clients files to Desktop/Document and restart the computer everything gets erased. a new may be " temp" profile is created.
this thing only happens when a client is log in as domain user?
any body has the same problem and solution?

I dont know if you fixed your problem but before you start messing with the registry and doing all that stuff check your group memberships. 90% of the problems are easy fixes. What you need to look for and remove are guest memberships in groups you are using. Well groups that you dont want to use as a guest. Having this guest membership in say domain users will make all domain users log in as guests and therefore have temp. accounts. This is easy to check and easy to fix and I would suggest doing this first.
