I might have asked thie via post or personal email before. If I did I apologize I forgot what I was told.

Why is there no donation button? Can someone fix it?
(I am speaking about the donation button you find on many forums or 'helpful' service/software sites)

I was also curious why do 'you' want to help me or 'them'? Are you that bored? Is it fun? Does it help you? I am not being an ass. This place is 100 times more helpful than microsoft social forums.

It's a two way street... I help you and someday you will (hopefully) help me.

Most member donate their time due to the enjoyment of talking about this great OS, but mostly from the satisfaction of helping others.

This last Christmas a young mom tells me that she bought her daugher a new computer for Christmas, trying to set up Parental Controls, she screwed up the computer and everything froze. She was afraid that her daugher would have no Christmas. The thanks that I received after gettting the computer working, made my Christmas.

For me, it's simply for the pure pleasure or chatting with and helping out fellow nerds...of course I learn tons along the way.

I do forums because I'm almost addicted to them. It's fun, interesting and a community full of people with similar interests.

One important aspect is that you learn a lot yourself as a helper. That is different than just reading other peoples posts. A lot of solutions I post I first try out myself - and that "sticks" - even in my old set of gray matter. I would say that at least half of what I know today about windows I have learned from helping on the forums.
