Hi, didnt know where this would belong
newish system 1090t with 4gb of ram and a 460gtx. no matter what i have tried.. done memtests, made sure the ram was correct voltage, updated the bios but i have crashing issues with firefox and windows and when ever i download a game or zipfile it becomes corrupted... even a cd game is corrupted when trying to install from a cd. my friend who is a tech has no idea. im pulling my hair out ready to throw this thing away because of all the problems. 650w psu powering the pc and a ups is used with the pc as the only thing plugged in

Have you thought about your internet provider and packet loss on your line?
Have you tried a line check?
Try doing a line check here.
TCP Tweak test | DSLReports.com, ISP Information
Just click on the start button at the bottom of the page and wait until it finishes
Then review your data and see if you are losing any packets.
This test will show if you are losing any data from a bad internet provider.
Hope this helps.

thx for the feedback but this is happening on a fairly fresh install and i scan my computer regularly with eset nod 32 smart security, and this happens with cd games so nothing to do with packet loss. tried the site you recommended izzy and no packet loss what so ever. i have tried zipping a file i know worked 3 days ago and it didnt work unzipping.

Let's see if VEW will show the cause.

Download VEW by Vino Rosso http://images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe
and save it to your desktop
Running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator and click Continue or Allow at the User Account Control Prompt.
Click the check boxes next to Application and System located under Select log to query on the upper left
Under Select type to list on the right click the boxes next to Error and Warning Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 also click the box next to Critical (not XP).
Under Number or date of events select Number of events and type 20 in the box next to 1 to 20 and click Run
Once it finishes it will display a log file in notepad
Please copy and paste its entire contents into your next reply
