Don't like Taskbar Selected Window Highlight...

In the new Windows 7 taskbar, the current active window is highlighted... If you remeber previous versions of windows, the current active window is depressed, not highlighted. However, you should also remember that an inactive window will highlight/blink when it becomes busy; usually through some sort of notification (such as recieving a new IM).

I have grown used to this over the years, I see a taskbar button highlighted/blinking and my mouse instantly goes to click it to see whats up. However, this new highlighting (instead of depressing) of the selected window is confusing me. I see a highlighted button on the taskbar and my pavlovian response is to click it... and of course, I end up minimizing my current active window.

Its starting to piss me off, because I am doing this A LOT. Is there a way to restore the depression look to the active window?

Also... is there a way to remove the Favorites Menu from Explorer?

Or make it so that the Recycle Bin ALWAYS shows (without selecting Show All Folders)

*EDIT* nevermind... I just added the Recycle Bin to the favorites menu... problem solved...

Is there a way to get rid of the homegroups menu?

I would also like to see a different way to highlight the selected window. The current way is really confusing, especially since I am used to interpretting color as a sign of windows waiting to be open.

The highlight is terrible! Fortunately I could bring back the quick launch and also disable window grouping. But it drives me nuts when I have several applications open specially for web surfing.
A one click task now has turned to be a mouse hover, wait, mouse move again and click! It might be an interesting feature to some random chick but for power users who do really use OS it is a huge turn off:mad:

I believe this tutorial is what you're looking for. Note that it has links to other tutorials on removing Libraries, Favorites, etc, from Explorer.

Btw, I have to agree about the highlighting. I've been doggedly trying to accept a new way of working, but failing miserably. Seems I can never figure out which taskbar app is doing what. :)
