Don't Want to Install Essentials Live Update

I am on top of all downloads. However, I keep getting a notice than an update is available to download. When I check, it is always Live Essentials. I didn't know what it was, so I went on line to check it out. I'm not interested.
Query: how can I let Microsoft to stop sending me those daily (or more) notifications that this update is available. I have been all over the help on my computer. As you may well imagine, even given the fact that I am a total non-techie, I couldn't find anything that remotely addressed my issue.
I am hoping that the Forum can help me.
As you may imagine, this is really beyond annoying.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Open Windows Updates, right-click the updates you don't want then choose Hide.

You won't be offered them unless you unhide them again.

I tried your fix.
I opened up Updates; everything was current.
Live Essentials was not there.
I don't know how to account for discrepancy.

If you don't want or have no need for Live Essentials you can uninstall it.

Go to Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall a Program.

Select Live Essentials and choose Uninstall.

Well, I went to Programs and, can you guess - NO Live Essentials!
Computer gremlins? Phantom programs? Microsoft off its rocker, yet again (that may be an oxymoron)?
Do you have a Plan - well, where are we?

Not so fast this time, I've had a night's sleep.

Don't forget that Microsoft Live Essentials has several programs bundled with it such as Live Mesh, Bing, Live Film Maker, Live Photo Gallery and the octopus-like one, Live Messenger.

If you have any of these installed then you will continue to receive updates for Live Essentials.

My only advice is that I offered originally, if you don't want an update, hide it when it appears.

Not sure what Live Mesh, Bing, Live Film Maker, Live Photo Gallery, and Live Messenger are.
I will check those out.
From the titles, I think Bing is a browser? If it is, I tried it; it sucks.
Film Maker: I'm not a budding George Lucas.
Photo Gallery: take photos, upload photos, share photos? Don't do that either.
Live Messenger: is that like the old AIM program? I did use that occasionally.
Why do you characterize Live Messenger as octopus-like?
I believe these are all listed in Programs.
Would it be OK to uninstall these programs?
Am I even comprehending what you are saying?

When you download Windows Live Essentials you'll see a page where you can choose which components you want.

Live Essentials is the name give to the whole package and you are given the opportunity to download all, some or none of what is offered. It consists of the following components:

Bing, which is a search engine similar to Google.

Live Mesh, which lets you synchronise files on your various computers.

Live Writer, which helps you create blogs.

Live Photo Gallery, which is self explanatory.

Live Film Maker, which is also self-explanatory.

Live Messenger, which is an instant messaging client. I don't like it because unless you know how to configure it, it's always sprouting pop-ups prompting you to use it. I just find it intrusive so I don't use it.

Live Mail, which allows you to access e-mail on any computer.

If you don't need or use any of these programs just go ahead and uninstall them. They are not bundled with Windows and their removal will not affect your operating system.

Sorry for delay in responding; thought I was kidnapped by aliens - I wasn't!
OK - I uninstalled Bing, Live Mesh, Live Writer, Live Photo Gallery, Live Film Maker, and Live Messenger; I left Live Mail alone. Uninstall went well.
However, I am STILL getting at least daily, if not more often, reminders to update 2011 Live Essentials! Notice doesn't tell me what it is updating; simply says "Live Essentials". So what is it attempting to update when Live Mail is the only thing left?
