Don't want to Upgrade

I spent a lot of money on Vista Ultimate upgrade so I got 2 removable HD. One for vista and one for Windows 7. When I upgraded to Vista, nothing would work and I had a mess. I don't plan on doing that with Windows 7. So when Windows 7 gives me a problem and I don't have the time to fix it I will just slip in my Vista HD and continue working and when I have the time I'll fix the problems which might not be fixable like we don't have the driver yet for Windows 7. So I need the full version of Windows 7 Pro because I want to backup the OS using the backup that the OS supplies. What's the best way to buy the full version because everyone is trying to sell it for October 23?

you should get technet if you have the money and you can download vista and windows 7 there the full copies with keys.

Many share your experience with Vista. But the current situation with 7 is different.

Your fears of 7 are unfounded. Yes the Beta and RC1 were not perfect, but most all Vista drivers (as well as other solutions) are compatible with 7. That was not the case with Vista because third party support (drivers) was slow to develop when Vista was first released. 7 has been built on Vista and benefits from years of accumulated support of Vista.

The Beta and RC1 versions of 7 offered for free testing are full versions of the "Ultimate" edition of 7. You can still get a free copy of the RC1 (including a free key and activation) from Microsoft. You can install it on your second hard drive *for free* and test it out, find and fix any bugs you may encounter. Then if you decide to keep 7, you can purchase the retail upgrade (Windows Home Premium Upgrade is $119 at the time of this writing available after Oct) and use the activated copy of the RC1 you have tested as the basis for the upgrade to the retail version you select. In other words you can save a little money over purchasing the more expensive "Full Version 7".

I have been using 7 as my main OS for months now with no problems. I think you will like it!

If I understand you

I have the Windows 7 RC1 but haven't used it much which is a mistake. Do you mean that for $119 after 10/23 I can get an upgrade to overlay my already free Windows 7 and I can still keep my Vista Ultimate because I have $400 invested into it? XP at $150 and Vista Ultimate upgrade at $250. You can see I don't want to lose my Vista because I just have too much money into it.

Windows Backup is available in all editions of Win 7. The only thing you'd need Pro for is to do backups across a network.
