Doom 3 Frustrations

Ok so i installed doom 3 no problem everything went smooth, then when i click play, the disc spins and it sounds like it will load, but then its says doom 3 had stopped working and then in the problem details it has this

I have upgraded all my drivers and i know my computer can handle this game easily. if anyone has an insight to what the problem is PLEASE HELP

Do you have the 1.3.1 patch installed that will make it so you don't need the disc in the drive and it fixes some issues and also have you tried compatibility for vista or xp.

ya i have downloaded the patch but somthing entirely new pops up

Try making a new shortcut from doom 3 folder.

i tried but it had the same affect, it brought up the game stuff like uninstall options, play and of that sort but when i push play it starts to load then says doom 3 has stopped working

I had the same problem but after I downloaded and installed the patch it worked. You get the right patch? How big was it?
