Hi, I just installed Windows 7, 7229. Now I notice that in my C drive, I have 2 folders for program files. One just program files and the other Program files (x86) and I also have 2 internet explorers, one just internet explorer and the other internet explorer (64-bit). That is what I have noticed so far. Is this normal or do I have a clitch?

Thanks!

Hi,

Did you upgrade or clean install? It sounds like you've installed x64 version of Windows 7

I did a clean install. Also, in my C drive I have Windows, Windows.old, Windows.old.000, Windows.old.001 and Windows.old.002 and they all have the exact same folder in them, (Perflogs, Program Files, Users, Windows, autoexec and config.sys. That seems like alot of duplicate files. Is this normal also for x64?

Again, thank you for any help.

mehmetali, thank you so much for your help. Can I delete all the old and just keep Windows since it is a new install?

as he said, you can delete the old Windows folders if there's nothing you need in them.

In that case I don't see why you didn't format the drive and do a clean install to begin with. The only reason not to do it is if you had files on your C: drive that you wanted to save.

Other Info
All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.
I did do a clean install. And the duplicate folders all have the exact same folders in them.
