Dowloading from Memory Card

When I had Windows XP, and I loaded from my camera's SD card, I had a choice to send it to one of the files which is what I generally did. Now I can't understand how I can do it with the Windows 7. It doesn't have a place to click on to download to a separate file. How can I do this with Windows 7?

I'm guessing you mean to send it to one of the folders.
This option should still be available in windows 7.
Perhaps your memory card reader driver needs to be updated to work properly with windows 7?

There is an entire slew of updates for the drivers for that particular system available on their site.
Just select windows 7 64bit from the dropdown menu and go to town in the drivers tab.

Too many people expect some sort of automatic downloading from their camera cards, it seems. What gets me is, that Windows 7 treats the camera cards just like a flash drive, letting you manually copy and paste the photos to the proper directories. I wouldn't want any type of automatic process, because I would want that control over how and where they are stored. As long as the card is recognized, you should be fine.

As DeaconFrost pointed out, Windows 7 recognizes the memory card as a flash drive. Basically, all you have to do to get your pictures on to your computer is firstly open up the directory you want your pictures to be saved.

Lets say for example you want them in your pictures folder.
>Click start
>Click Documents
>Click Pictures
>Create a "New Folder" (this step is optional/for this example)
>Rename the folder "Wedding Photos" (this step is optional/for this example)

Now that you have that open it is time to open your memory card. If you were not prompted to open the files folder upon connecting the memory card then take the following steps.
>Click Start
>Click Computer
>Click "The name of your memory card"

Then simply find all the pictures you want to transfer and drag and drop the pictures into the directory were you want your pictures.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

I use the very basic method of inserting the card in my onboard card reader, and then use Windows Explorer to send the images to a folder and location of my choosing, which is then promptly copied to my external backup drive.

If you need drivers for your computer card readers this one's a good choice and it's free.

Or you could use the same basic method to add the location you want to the send to menu.
not much more complicated than creating a shortcut.
Context menu isn't that hard to modify.

In fact the attached will let you add Software, Control panel, and Device Manager to the Context Menu shortcuts, something I've been using for awhile.
