Hi there

What won't start.
How did you install W7 - did it install OK.

Even with a lot of drivers missing usually the computer will BOOT with the basic stuff working.

Note also - check to see if your computer has PROTECTED BOOT enabled (In the BIOS) -- if it is DISABLE IT and enable / allow Legacy boot. You don't have to disable UEFI - but remember if booting a UEFI OS then the HDD must be formatted as GPT and not MBR).

Cheers

I've disabled protected boot in bios and allowed legacy and booted to windows 7 disc. I then "pressed any key" and it started to go to the install screen. At the screen where it says "install now", I clicked install it acted like it was gonna start installing and then said I didn't have the drivers to install.

Thanks,
C

You will encounter this error if ;

1. You are installing "Win 7" from a USB flash drive and the USB port is "USB 3.0".

Connecting USB flash drive to a 2.0 port will solve this. Some models may only have 3.0 ports. If that is the case, please use a DVD instead.

2. SATA controller require special drivers.

Some laptops - especially newer Ultrabook models - requires SATA controller driver to be provided during setup.

First try installing by booting from a DVD and if that don't work, please specify the exact model of your laptop with next reply.

The 3.0 USB ports are probably the problem. I have a HP Pavillion Sleekbook that has 2 3.0 USB ports, 1 2.0 USB port BUT, NO DISC DRIVE so, I'm having to use an external disc drive that takes 2 USB ports. I might try the Usb flash drive install on the 2.0 USB port and see if thats it.

Thank you,
C
