i noticed a problem on my download speed. when i tried using openDNS a few hours ago, i noticed that my download speed goes up and down. my max DL speed is 700kB/s. but when i used openDNS, it goes down to about 1/2 to 3/4 in speed when im browsing the internet w/c does not happen before i use openDNS. and right now, without even browsing, i observed my DL speed goes down to 20kBps and up again to 600kBps in a up and down pattern.

is this normal? this really affects my computer life since i always download movies and softwares everyday (shhhh! ;))

sometimes when the DL speed doesnt go up, i need to flush my DNS cache to make it go up.

what's wrong with this?

UPDATE:
i tried to eliminate some things which i did before the problem occured.

removed openDNS settings - didn't solve
closed firefox - didn't solve
flush dns - didn't solve

then i used system restore.
w/c is funny because the restore point is exactly the same with before i used the restore point, since the restore point is only a few hours ago (only restore pt.). and i haven't done any changes in the settings since then.
but, the problem was gone ( i guess ).

*UPDATE
i got the culprit
it was chikka messenger. which wasn't affecting my DL speed before. hmmm.. could be a conflict with either firefox 3.52, openDNS, or malwarebytes since the problem happened after those three changes.

*UPDATE
ooops. i tested it again. it's not chikka. wtf. i don't get it.

ok im done testing and eliminating problems. i give up. haha.
why did my DL speed go up and down?

i still need opinions though, if you don' mind.

OpenDNS wouldn't affect your download speed. It is merely a DNS service which is only used once to get the IP address of a domain name. After that it doesn't get used until the next time there is need for a domain to be translated.
