Microsoft has been continuously evolving DirectX to implement latest graphics technology features and to support wide varieties of games, Display devices. After making DirectX 10 available for windows Vista here is next version DirectX 11 with Direct3D 11 which is available for download as technical preview.

Windows 7/Direct3D 11 Technical Preview is part of DirectX SDK and contains Technical Preview of Direct2D, DirectWrite, DXGI 1.1. Good news is, it is not only available as Technical Preview but also as DirectX End-User Runtimes.
Windows 7/Direct3D 11 (DirectX 11) is supported on Windows 7 and Windows Vista only. Windows XP users cannot install DirectX 11.

My guess is that this updated SDK is simply updated b/c of the updated DirectX 9 that we just saw.

This seems to confirm my suspicion:

Installation Notes for All Platforms:
￭ This SDK installs on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Vista using Visual Studio .NET 2003 or 2005.
￭ Enable cryptographic services. On the Start menu, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage. The Computer Management window appears. In the left navigation pane, click Services and Applications. In the right pane, double click Services, and then double-click Cryptographic Services. The Cryptographic Services Properties property sheet appears. On the General tab, make sure that Service Status is Started, and that Startup Type is Automatic.
If you are running Windows on a FAT32 drive, run scandisk.

Thea reason I have the FAT32 in there is that Vista never installs natively on FAT32 - you have to go through a process like the one listed at XP booting direct from USB - The CD Forum in order to get Vista on a FAT32 partition (although why in the world you would want to in the first place is beyond me...)
