Download Windows 7?

I have my box and product key. But ran my chair over the install disk so it's now in half.
Any Ftp or Microsoft support page that can help me get another copy?

Edit: It was Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. But 32 bit would work for me because its 1gb smaller

Hello Freshmeat,

If you have a friend that has a retail Windows 7 Ultimate installation DVD, then you could use it to install it on your computer and use your product key number to activate it.

You could also use a free program like ImgBurn to create a ISO of the DVD to be able to burn your own DVD copy with the ISO file.

I had to download mine, too. And it's perfectly safe to do so, as long as you find one that matches the MD5 hash of the original disc. (easy to find online)
Then you just use any one of the MD5 utilities out there to read the hash on your download. If it's a match, then you're good to go.

As for the OP, I'd contact Microsoft, or go to a local mom and pop computer shop and see if they'd make a copy for you. Make it clear you have a license.

What other entities? Usage of most torrent sites is toeing the line because of the content. Most OS discs you find on there have been tampered with to either add malware, crack the activation, or both. Simply obtaining a disc without the license or tampering is technically just fine and perfectly legal. The same with copying the disc from a friend. Microsoft techs regular suggest copying the discs from friends. All that matters is that your license key is legit to you. If that's the case, MS won't care where the actual media came from.

Illegal should be using the OS without payment (let's say, not purchasing the product KEY, which mostly counts in this cases) and instead using cracks to avoid the 30 day trial. Most enterprises do DVD copies of windows so if one goes nuts, they got another working copy...

I believe that I'm not supposed to post links here, but search for downloads at mydigitallife. No links there for Ultimate, but you could do the genericization (is that a word?) trick (ei.cfg removal) with any of the other versions.

The links are for digital river (who handled the student version downloads), and they still seem to be live.

In future, I suggest making a backup copy of the DVD. It's not encrypted.

Next check the ISO HASH against the official Win7 HASH to make sure nothing whatsoever has been added. This is your certification of a clean-copy installer.
