Solved Downloading Standalone Win Updates - Prob?

I'm making another slipstreamed Win 7 disc, and figured I might as well integrate the few new MSUs since last month. I'm following Brink's tutorial again. However, these are the pages I've come to so far. Nowhere is there anything to download. Even following a bunch of the links, I see nothing that indicates I can download the update itself.

Has Microsoft changed something? How can I get these standalone updates now?

I don't know how I have never done it before. My thoughts are go to M/S website find their search box and type in the MSxxxxx and hit search.

It's alright I guess. I just kept googling the KB#s and found all the Windows updates. Though, I don't even know how Windows Update was trying to update my ATI Radeon GPU. I mean great, but I couldn't find those updates online.

I want to make sure I get as many updates integrated into this as possible so any future reinstalls go fast and smooth. I like to keep my OS very clean, and with this rig having a separate data disk I'm sure to be more apt to do clean installs. This will surely help for future reference, too! (I just wish it didn't have to open in IE... lol)

I download the full stand alone versions of DirectX, IE, Media player, service packs, etc and save them to a thumb drive for use after a clean install. I don't bother with the various small updates patches etc. I don't have any interest in playing with nlite or vlite or whatever, and they just take to long to install separately. If I was on dial up I might think about doing what your doing. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against what your doing its just not my cup of tea. For the most part I go to the major manufacturers for chip-set, video and audio drivers. The windows update catalog can be handy though for getting drivers without all the bundled bloatware you sometimes get. They can be tricky to install sometimes though.

Meh, my net's fast enough. I just don't like all the restarting at the beginning of a clean install to get it updated. I'd rather just make future processes simpler. =) Just like to tinker, too. ^^"

Be careful with Drivers and Driver Updates that come from MS or Windows Updates.
It is still best to get them from the manufacturer directly.
Driver Updates from MS do not always go well and break whatever hardware they are for, till you uninstall the driver and reinstall from the manufacturer. Notorious ones are Realtek and other Audio Drivers and Any Video Drivers.
On occasion, other hardware, so I make it a general rule not to get my drivers from MS or MS Updates.

If you have a problem in the future with some hardware after doing an install like you are doing, more then likely it's the driver from MS.

A lot of people say they are the exact same drivers (MS and Manufacturer), but that is not entirely true.

It is really good! I use it on each and every one of my computers, and I only have compliments and recommendations. Give it a try, and it is probably safer and less error prone than trying to integrate updates onto the disk. It is a truly excellent tool!
