Downloads are displayed in unreadable script

recently upgraded to windows 7 pro and when I download any document when it opens it is in an unreadable script. I can drag it into word and open it but it will only let me see the first page. any Ideas as to what seting i need to change?

Go to Control Panel - Default Programs - Set your default programs - Select Microsoft Outlook - Set this program as default.

You could also try Right-Clicking on the file and selecting Open with and then select Choose default program if Word is not in the Recommended programs list. If it is style not there click Browse. Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14 and select WINWORD.exe. Now Microsoft Word should be the default for that filetype.

The location of WINWORD.exe may vary depending on if your running 32 or 64 Bit or running another version of Microsoft Office
