Downloads folder not accessible

Unable to access the "Downloads" folder under Favorites. Receive following message: C:\Users\JD\Downloads is not accessible. Access is denied.

I was able to access it yesterday, but not today. Have no idea what may have caused this. If I download something now it seems to go to: Libraries - Documents - Downloads.

Not sure why. I am able to use "properties" on the original Downloads folder under Favorites. A little worried, seems to indicate there is nothing in folder. There were files there.

Any ideas on how to fix? Thank you.

Reading a much older strings that had similar issues, I ran "Default-Library-ms." I now have a "Downloads" folder with my items within it on my desktop. I moved my items just in case. I then used the, "5. To Restore the Default Downloads Folder Location" application. I now have access to my "Downloads" folder under "Favorites" with my files located within. I now have two "Downloads" folders, one on my desktop and another "Favorites" folder under "Favorites." May I simply delete the folder located on my desktop?

If it doesn't have a "Location" tab in it's properties page (right click -> Properties), then it's safe to delete.

Have not deleted yet. I may have spoken too soon. I downloaded a pdf attached to an old email as a test. I can now download, but it is going to the "Downloads" file under "My Documents." It should be going to the the "Downloads" file under "Favorites."

Not sure how to redirect downloads back to "Downloads" file under "Favorites?"

There should be no downloads folder in My Documents unless you created one there.

Also, add the downloads folder to right hand column on your start menu, much easier to get to it that way. Not to mention faster.

Also, run a system file check.

Run Command Prompt as admin (right click command prompt choose run as admin) type sfc /scannow hit enter, let it run. Post your results.

I did not knowingly create a "Downloads" folder under "My Documents." Anyway, there is a "Downloads" folder under "Favorites." Downloads apparently are no longer being sent there. They are going to the "Downloads" folder under "My Documents." Is there a way to redirect downloads back to the correct folder location?

System scan: "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

In addition, is this just a Downloads folder that the download manager program you are using created?

If so, then are you able to set the download manager program to save to your "C:\Users\Downloads" folder instead of the Downloads folder it created in your "C:\Users\Documents" folder.

I do not believe so. Anytime I downloaded something, an email attachment for example the default location always seemed to be the "Downloads" folder located under "Favorites." The default has changed for some unknown reason to a "Downloads" folder under "My Documents." I changed the download designation on the one program you are referring to.

I would like to change the default download site back to the "Downloads" folder under "Favorites." Not sure how to accomplish that?

When you right click on that Downloads folder and click on Properties, does it have a "Location" tab, and what does it have for it's path in the "General" tab?
