drive letter partition was changed after clean install

Before : My harddisk has 2 partition. It is C : SYSTEM, and D : RECOVERY . Then I make new partition, shrink volume from C was named E : NEW .

After I was reinstalled windows by clean install, the letter drive and partition changed to C : SYSTEM , D : NEW, and E : RECOVERY there was before drive D changedto E..

Please help me...it's normal? Thanks for the explanation....

That is not a problem at all. Unless you have a big problem with those letters, I would leave it as is. But you can change the drive letters in Disk Management (not C though).

This is normal. Well, normal in that it happens frequently. It's just the way Windows chose to set the lettering schemes. Usually after C: is set, if you have another physical drive (Not just a partition but an actual second drive) it will assign that a letter first. Occasionally it will even assign letters based on size, largest going first.

okay,,, if someday i will reinstall windows use E : recovery drive , could it still work ?

and could I make the Bootable Recovery CD by burning Recovery drive onto CD/DVD ? if it could, how ? where do i find this related topics in this site?

It really doesn't matter which letter is assigned. Your machine will know where everything is when it needs anything specific, so don't stress too much over the letter assignment.

As for creating a recovery disk, you don't need to burn it to a disk. You're better off creating a back up of the computer in it's current state. That way it should only take a few minutes to bring you back to your desktop the way it is right now immediately after a fresh install.

There are so many ways to do this. You can use third party back-up software or in your control panel Windows offers Backup and Restore which will walk you through creating such a disk

1. For burning the Recovery disk(s) from the recovery partition, go to Control Panel\System and Security\Backup and Restore. In the left pane you find " Create a system repair disk". Have 2 or 3 DVD-R's handy.
2. If you want to make an image of your new installation, use this program. It is free, easy to use and reliable (unlike the built in Win7 function).
