Hello Folks,
I bought a new portabe hdd. Before connecting it, I powered on the 2 other ones I normally use on my PC. After the drive was installed, I opened My Computer and all the drive letters had changed. Why? & can they be returned to originals.
The USB port AFAIK has never been used before.

Hi Shawn,

Thanks for reminding me how it's done. I was thinking more on the lines, that each USB port was assigned a specific letter regardless of what's plugged in. My pc has 1 on the front & 3 or 4 @ the rear.
P.S. I like your new Avatar.

When I get mail re a new post, it shows your logo as Seven Forums, but at the base it is called 7 Forums.
It could be confusing as their is another called 'Windows 7 Forums.

You're most welcome George. :)

Yeah, I suppose that could be a bit confusing. I think it was done that way to be shorter and to help recognize it being for the "Windows 7" OS.

Yeah but they get no traffic (other than the faked stats) and dont rank in google, so it doesn't really matter :p

Point taken. I did join the other Windows 7 Forums but my visits to it are now infrequent.
