Hi, I have a vlited version of Windows 7 for netbooks, unfortunatelly there is no driver for CD/DVD drive, which I have... so install. program wants me to insert a floppy (or whatever) with the CD/DVD driver... If you could send me the driver, I would be very grateful. I have a slow internet connection so it is quite difficult to download another version of Windows 7 for me. Thx. M

Have you tried HP's vista driver? It is small enough not to take a long time.

If anybody of you could extract the driver from the installation CD (or ISO), would be happy. :-)

Your driver page is here choose the OS (Operating System) you were using before you installed W7 :
HP Compaq nx6110 Notebook PC -  Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

If the drivers wont install normally try installing them in compatibility mode with the OS they are written for eg vista/xp etc :

To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

You can also find later versions of the intel chipset drivers and anything else intel here -
Download Software, Drivers and Utilities

Suggestions - there is a cd/dvd firmware upgrade.
You might need new chipset drivers so the cd/dvd drive is recognised by w7.

Truth Im not sure you will have to experiment and think it through - or hope someone else has a better suggestion.

Sourcing an external CD-ROM/Dvd drive. Is that a feasible option?

At Whest, what I'm getting at is that he can't install Windows 7 because it does not see his cd drives due to lack of drivers...

However.. I could be wrong..

Im not sure what the problem is - he has a HP Compaq nx6110 which has a cd/dvd and w7 would install the driver automatically for that - perhaps the firmware needs upgrading firstly if that is the problem - like its hard to figure what they mean when they dont clearly explain the situation.

I have probably explained the situation badly... I have downloaded an ISO of Win7 which has some parts removed (by vLite or something like that) in order to be faster and more suitable for netbooks. As I have an older notebook I have dediced to use just this version despite it is not a netbook. (I used an older version of this Win7and it has the drivers for CD/DVD drives)
That version of Win7 does not have ANY drivers for CD/DVD drive, so during the installation (booting from CD) it wants me to put drivers for CD/DVD - I cannot continue to install without that. :-( Now I have na ISO of a "normal" - do not you know where is the driver in it? Thx for your hints...
(The links you have sent me... I could not find any drivers for CD/DVD)

Personally I woudn't download a copy of W7 with parts removed, as its likely to have malware installed on it. What you can do if you end up buying W7 RTM is to remove parts of the OS to make it run smoother eg, Media Centre can be removed, IE8, and more, you can also tweak the system by taking out unused programs in startup and disabling some services.
AS for the situation you have with the driver, I cant help - if W7 cant locate the driver on the install dvd your download may be corrupted. Like you said you have an old netbook, and may not have a suitable dvd drive did you check the upgrade advisor - Can my PC run Windows 7?

If you want to install the older working version and do the above - Once its installed go to Control Panel /Programs and features -on the left side - Turn windows features on or off and remove all you dont want to use.
To disable Startup programs type msconfig in search and select/select startup, and deselect programs you dont need to start be careful though.
Type in your browser search "Windows 7 services you can safely disable"
To open services type in search and select services.

Hi Whest,
I have a normal notebook with Win 7 beta installed on it, the CD/DVD drive works properly.
Now I wanted to install Win 7 RTM, as I have an experience with vlited version of Win 7 beta (much faster and smaller than a "normal" one) I wanted to use vlited version of Win 7 RTM as well. I know I can vlite it myself, but if I could just add that driver to the installation of Win 7 RTM for netbooks, it would be much easier as I do not have much experiences with it.
Of course, I know about the possibility of disabling some services and I will do it. :-)
I will buy Win 7 when it is possible in the Czech republic (it is in October I think).
