My action center keeps asking me to download a driver for the chipset on my ASUS M3N78-VM motherboard. I have already downloaded and installed it, but it keeps asking me to download it again. The only thing I did not download is the Network Manager which is a hardware firewall of some kind as I already have BitDefender installed. There is a slight difference to other updates though as this update directs me to the manufacturer website and does not download the update from Microsoft's update page. Anyway to fix this?

I would also check in Device Manager that the updated driver is actually installed. A botched up install can lead to the old driver still being used. You can also try install the drivers by manually pointing to them.

If everything is fine and Action center keeps bugging you, you can select Change Action Center Settings in the left pane, deselect the "Check for updates" box and click OK.
