MegaLeecher is having a giveaway for DriverMax Pro for 3 days 9 April 2011 to 11 April 2011. Got mine and updated a bunch of drivers. Always make a restore point before updating drivers. I personally make system images before updating drivers. Will make new images when I see everything is working fine.

What are the simple instructions for getting this?

Go to the address listed. Put in an email address, and chose a password for your DriverMax account. You'll receive an email with a link to verify, and instructions how to activate. Download the latest DriverMax, and follow instructions and it will be changed into the pro version. A Guy

In order to finish activating the DriverMax PRO account click on

DriverMax program Login Settings:

After finishing the activation process you must run the DriverMax program,
click on "Online account" then click on "DriverMax login settings".
In the settings window click on the "Change..." button, follow the wizard
and choose "I already have an account, I created one some time ago".

Password: (password you chose)


If you do not have the DriverMax program installed on your computer
the first step after activation is to download DriverMax from
http://www.drivermax.com/download.htm

Then you must install the application on your computer,

Very weird - it refuses to accept the password - when typed into the second box - the one that says Reenter Password.

I kept getting a wrong password after typing it in and pressing the activate button. Seems I had a DriverMax account at the email I was using, and didn't remember the info. I used another email, and it worked fine. Sorry if it's causing people trouble

Got it, Thanks. I too had used this before. Just so happened that I remembered the password. I entered it and it promoted to the Pro version. I don't presently have it installed but am heading off to that now.

Just out of curiosity, can it be used on more than one machine or do I have to establish separate accounts/separate downloads?

I truly don't know. Seems you have a license for the program, I'd think it will work on multiple, but only trying will tell

So its just a 61 days trial?
I would not recommend these driver updaters as they tend to cause problematic situations resulting in BSODs, such cases are regularly seen in the crashes and debugging section

There was no mention of a 61 day trial. I installed yesterday, and mine still says 61 days, so I will see in a few days if it changes. As far as using the program, it worked fine for me. But I did mention I make images before using a driver update such as this. I prefer the peace of mind. A Guy

Update to my own question. It does work on multiple machines. Same log in info, same password.

If I remember correct, it can be used (the free version) on any number of machines with the same registration with their server and it keeps the details of each machine seperately.

I had tried it but so infrequently that everytime, I have to ask for the registration details to be emailed.

In anycase, I was just playing around with it only to compare it with other driver scanners. I feel it is safer not to rely on any of these driver scanners.

The best, IMO, is to get the driver updates directly from the manufacturer's website. Next best will be to count upon the Windows 7 updates.

Whatever, always create a system restore point before any driver updates as suggested by A Guy. Better to be safe than sorry.
